Tiny Menaces

If hummingbirds were as big as robins, we'd all be in big trouble. These little guys have moxie and boundary issues.

  1. I've never seen so many hummingbirds in one spot. That's amazing!

  2. I have a feeder that attached to my kitchen window by suction cups. When I first bought it my husband said oh they'll never use that, I said you must not know hummingbirds! They'll chase the big birds away and they'll buzz me when I go out to retrieve the feeder for washing and refilling. Sadly we don't get so many way up here in MA but my sister in Arkansas has 6 feeders across the front of her porch and upwards of 100 hummers will visit- the most amazing site I've ever seen.

  3. I've had hummers in my garden all summer - they're in Texas from April to August, generally - but since I don't have feeders I miss out on these mass assemblages of birds. I could watch them all day! My friend Amy fills all 6 of her feeders everyday at this time of year...

  4. Wow! I have been watching a few hummingbirds in my back yard the past month and I'm just enamored with them! To see that many at one feeder is crazy. It looked like one of them was shooing off the others... like a little monster! I love watching them.
