The Classifieds - Items For Sale

Here's a list of things for sale here at the farm: spinning stuff, animals, supplies, and whatnot...

Pipy Spinning Wheel  SOLD

$500

This precious little wheel was made in the 60's in New Zealand by a guy named Philip Poore.  She has been my faithful companion to elementary school demonstrations because of her dainty storybook appeal.  But don't let that fool you - she's a spinning powerhouse.

She comes with 10 bobbins and three whorls, ranging from big to tiny.  She sports a double drive set up with optional scotch tension.  There's a lot of pretty handcrafting in this wheel... see the photos.

Small but mighty

Lots of accessories

Wooden pegs

Weighted drive wheel

Beautiful details

Tons of twist ratios

Orifice hook fits into hole in the table

Orifice hook removed from its cubby hole

The bobbins are gorgeous

Extra whorls for even more ratios

    Cindy,
Would you recommend this type of wheel for a rank beginner? If not what would you suggest and do you have any other wheels for sale?

I had the same question! I am a beginner and can use a drop spindle, but have not yet used a wheel. This one is just beautiful and, compared to others I've seen, she seems to be very well-priced. Would love to hear your comments.

  3. It wouldn't take a drop spindler much to get the hang of the wheel, I don't think. If you'd like to come see and try her out, please give me a call or drop me an e-mail... 214 284 9218 or jacobsreward at juno dot com.
